Inside the Workshop: How Evermore Actually Makes Fine Jewellery

A 5.2-kilometre handmade gold chain doesn't happen by accident. It takes a Guinness World Record's worth of patience, a facility built for exactly this kind of precision, and a team that's been refining the craft for decades. That chain — the longest handmade gold chain in the world — was made in the same Sharjah facility where every Evermore piece is created today.
Most jewellery brands will tell you a piece is "handcrafted with care." We'd rather show you what that actually involves.
Decades before Evermore existed
Evermore was founded in 2021, but the manufacturing expertise behind it goes back much further. Evermore's parent company opened its first manufacturing facility in the 1980s and has been producing gold jewellery ever since. It began working with natural diamonds in the early 2000s, building over twenty years of expertise in setting natural gemstones before Evermore ever existed. When Evermore was founded, the decision was straightforward: keep everything that decades of manufacturing experience had already built, and focus it on lab-grown diamonds instead of natural ones.
Where the stones come from
We don't grow our own diamonds. Instead, we work directly with growers based in Gujarat, India, sourcing straight from the source rather than through intermediaries — which is a meaningful part of how we're able to offer sharper pricing without compromising on the quality of stone coming out of the reactor. We work with both CVD and HPHT diamonds, with a higher proportion of our pieces using CVD stones.
For coloured gemstones — lab-grown emeralds, rubies, and sapphires — we work with specialist growers in China. One of these partners custom-grew the 357.8-carat rough emerald that was later cut down into the 61.7-carat pear-cut emerald at the centre of one of the necklaces in our Museum of Sparkle.
Inside the Sharjah facility
Once stones reach Dubai, they're sent to our manufacturing facility in Sharjah, where 145 artisans work across every stage of production — whether the piece is a custom client commission, stock destined for our retail stores and online store, or a future exhibition piece for the Museum of Sparkle.
The workflow follows the shape of the craft itself:

Casting — the metal is cast into the base form of the piece.

Filing, polishing, and cleaning the casting — preparing the cast metal before assembly.

Welding and assembly — joining components into the final jewellery structure.

Stone setting — placing and securing each diamond or gemstone.

Prong filing — refining the prongs that hold each stone in place.

Intermediate polishing — polishing between the different cast metal sections.

Rhodium polish — applying the finishing plating layer.

Final polish and buffing — the last pass before a piece is ready.
Alongside the artisans on the floor, we have a team of seven designers and CAD artists in-house, who develop new concepts, build new designs, and work directly on custom commissions. We also run our own in-house refinery, which means that when gold needs to be melted down and refined, we can do it ourselves — minimising loss in the process and giving us more flexibility on pricing and turnaround than a workshop that has to outsource that step.
Why having it all in-house actually matters
A finished piece typically takes anywhere from a week to a month, depending on complexity. But because every stage — casting, setting, polishing, refining — happens under one roof, we can prioritise a piece and move it to the front of the queue when something is genuinely urgent. In those situations, we've turned pieces around in as little as two to three days, depending on complexity. That kind of flexibility isn't something a workshop relying on outside contractors for any stage of the process can usually offer.
Old skills, new tools
The facility runs on a genuine mix of traditional craft and modern technology. Hand polishing, hand setting, hand filing, hand joining, and hand welding are still central to how every piece comes together — the same skills that built that record-breaking gold chain. Alongside them, we use 3D printing, direct 3D casting of wax moulds, laser engraving, and laser soldering, so the craftsmanship can keep pace with the kind of contemporary designs people are asking for today.
A record that says more than a tagline could

We mention it not because it's a piece anyone would wear, but because of what it represents: the sheer depth of manpower, patience, and technical skill that exists inside our workshop — the same skill that goes into every ring, necklace, and bracelet we make, at any scale.
